Chocolate Cake - Baking Mix
We wanted a no added sugar, gluten free cake to rival all cakes. We wanted it to taste like cake and act like cake. We wanted to fool our friends into thinking it was Betty Crocker, so that’s what we did. When co-founder, Heather Terry’s mom baked this mix, she called Heather and said, ‘There is no way there is no sugar in this cake- no. way.’. Yes way, mom.
Ingredients: Almond Flour^, Allulose^, Cocoa Powder*, Leavening^ (Monocalcium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Corn Starch^, Salt^.
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8in round pan and also line with parchment (see our Instagram and TikTok for pro tips). Place GoodSam Chocolate Cake Mix with the eggs, milk (of choice) or water and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl. Mix with a spatula until well combined. Pour into the cake pan and spread evenly. Bake on the center rack for 16 minutes or until the middle has set. Allow to cool in the pan and ice with your favorite icing.
*This mix makes one 8in cake layer. For multiple layer cake, you will need more cake mix!
Vegan directions for the cake:
Replace eggs with: Chia or flax seed eggs (1:1) 1 Tbsp chia seeds + 2.5 Tbsp water = a chia egg (I like to go a step further a grind down the chia seeds); 1flax egg= combine one tablespoon of flaxseed meal and three tablespoons of water (notice this is flax meal which means that the flax is ground down)
