World Environment Day: Celebrating Sustainability and Regeneration

At GoodSAM, we believe every bite can do a little good; for people, for farmers, and for the planet. So while the world takes a moment to mark World Environment Day, this work is part of our everyday mission.

This year, as we reflect on our 2024 Sustainability Report, we proudly share our journey of regenerative agriculture, transparent partnerships, and empowering real communities behind the food we all love.

GoodSAM isn’t just another snack on the shelf. We’re a food company with a purpose: to nourish families here at home while investing in the communities who grow the ingredients we all depend on. Our founder, Heather K. Terry started GoodSAM with a simple truth in mind: doing good for the planet starts with how we grow, trade, and share food. It's about respect for farmers, cultures, and ecosystems, and about building a future that works for all of us.

Cultivating Regenerative Agriculture

At the heart of it all is regenerative agriculture -a better way to grow that restores soil health, boosts biodiversity, and protects our ecosystems. Whether it’s sourcing Brazil Nuts in Peru or Pineapple in Colombia, we make sure every step supports both nature and the people caring for it.

In 2024, we launched a new line of baked Fruit Chips that reflects this deep commitment. One of them, our Crispy Crunchy Pineapple Slices was honored with a 2024 NEXTY Award for innovation and purpose. Made with just one ingredient -Real Fruit- they’re grown and processed sustainably by women-led teams who are building stronger futures for their communities.

Transparency and Traceability

Transparency isn't just a trend at GoodSAM, it's our promise. From Ghanaian cocoa farms to macadamia orchards in Kenya and Walnuts Farms in California, every GoodSAM product is a testament to our direct trade relationships, ensuring fair prices and clear visibility across the entire supply chain. In our ongoing effort to innovate, we've partnered on a special project exploring biodegradable packaging made from pineapple leaf fibers. This initiative, currently in development and research phases in Colombia, aims to reduce waste and lower our carbon footprint while creating new economic opportunities for local communities.

Empowering Farmers and Communities

Farmers are more than suppliers -they’re partners, leaders, and the heartbeat of everything we do. In 2024, we deepened these relationships by offering hands-on technical support, helping farmers improve practices, grow income, and build long-term resilience.

In rural Colombia, our Agua por la Sierra project brought clean water solutions to schools — a small change that made a big difference for hundreds of students and their families.

Looking Ahead: Our 2025 Commitments

As we plan for the future, our next steps are grounded in real action::

  • Building Local Capacity: Giving farmers tools, training, and resources to thrive.

  • Increasing Crop Resilience: Helping partners adapt to climate change with smart, sustainable techniques.

  • Accelerating Regenerative Practices: Scaling organic methods and eco-friendly technology.

  • Fostering Community Leadership: Supporting community-driven sustainability projects  that are locally led and long-lasting.

Join the Movement

We know that shopping consciously can sometimes feel like it’s not enough. But the truth is your choices really do matter. When you buy GoodSAM, you're supporting smallholder farms, regenerating ecosystems, and fueling a global supply chain rooted in fairness and respect.

This World Environment Day, we invite you to reflect and even enjoy a snack or two that’s doing some good in the world. Because at GoodSAM, we believe food should nourish more than just our bodies — it should nourish the future. At GoodSAM, through food, we care.
